Elon Musk as the top GOP donor
Elon Musk, the world’s richest man, has contributed at least $276 million since summer to support the American Republican Party in the midterm elections for Congress. Most of the donations ($158 million) are directed to the "Senate Leadership Fund," aimed at boosting the party’s chances of winning Senate seats in Texas. This support seeks to maintain Republican seats in the state, especially amid the gubernatorial race, and is part of his political investments related to the 2024 elections. Although Musk stated in May that he did not intend to spend large amounts in the future, his significant financial support reflects his interest in Texas and his influence in American politics.
