Pentagon updates US casualties in Iran-related ops
The Pentagon has raised the death toll of U.S. troops in operations against Iran to 21, up from the previous figure, in addition to recording two non-combat-related fatalities outside of these operations. Furthermore, 865 military personnel have been wounded during conflict-related operations, and a soldier's death in a training accident in Iraq—unrelated to operations against Iran—has been included, bringing the total number of U.S. military casualties in the Middle East since February 28 to 22. This revision comes after criticisms regarding errors in the casualty count, prompting the Pentagon to announce changes to its method of recording losses, including the classification of "pending" cases for review and verification.
