British explorer's 50,000 km journey to reunite with mother
British adventurer Carl Bousby took nearly 28 years and traveled approximately 50,000 kilometers on foot across 29 countries, aiming to circumnavigate the world. His journey ended when he reached Britain by swimming from France to the United Kingdom after crossing the English Channel, arriving at the coast of Dover in November 2026. He began his journey in 1998 from Chile, committed to not using any transportation and avoiding returning to Britain until he completed the adventure. He faced numerous obstacles, most notably visa restrictions, the financial crisis, and the pandemic. Ultimately, he managed to finish it by swimming after the Channel Tunnel was rejected. The trip is extraordinary, spanning decades of perseverance and challenge, and it sends a message about the power of will and his determination to achieve his dream despite long-standing obstacles.
