Congress report details Iran war losses
A report from the Congressional Research Service reveals that the U.S. military lost 81 aircraft during its war with Iran, including fighter jets, drones, and helicopters. Notably, there were significant losses of "MQ-9 Reaper" drones, which accounted for more than half of these losses. The estimated cost of the lost aircraft ranges from $1.9 billion to $3.3 billion, while the total costs of the war exceed $45 billion, not including infrastructure damages. These figures raise questions about the availability of information, as well as the need for funding and reform, amid ongoing damage to the air fleet caused by military operations—especially the "MQ-9" drones, of which approximately 35% have been lost since 2004.
