Dutch Deputy: Name in Turkish or Arabic cuts job chances by 60
Dutch MP from the Dink Party, Dogukan Argin, stated that employment opportunities for individuals with Turkish or Arab family names decrease by 60% in the Netherlands due to name-based discrimination, separate from experience or education. He mentioned that official reports confirm widespread discrimination, including unfair employment policies, covert investigations against mosques, as well as racism against veiled women and a sense of insecurity on the streets. He pointed out that hostility towards foreigners and Muslims is increasing with the rise of the far-right, emphasizing that Muslims are an integral part of Dutch society. He stressed that education and employment are top priorities to combat discrimination and restore trust among Muslim youth and those of immigrant backgrounds.
