Leniker urges City to acknowledge violations
Gary Lineker, the former England national team captain, stated that Manchester City should admit to violating the Premier League's financial rules and accept the penalties, with the possibility of being stripped of their titles from 2009 to 2018. He explained that the club was found guilty of using fake sponsorship contracts to boost its revenue and inflate profits by over £900 million. Lineker called on the club to face the issue by acknowledging their mistake and accepting the punishment to improve its image and the sport of football, expressing sympathy with the fans and players. The decision on the sanctions remains pending, as an appeal hearing will be held behind closed doors, while Manchester City continues to top the league table with 15 points and prepares to face Liverpool.
