Banathineikos Advocates Euro-American Basketball Alliance
European basketball clubs, led by Panathinaikos, discussed the possibility of collaboration with the American basketball league (NBA) after their rejection of an offer to enhance cooperation and launch a new tournament in Europe by the 2027-2028 season. Although the offer was declined at this time, talks remain open, and it is expected that discussions will continue after 2028. The NBA is aiming to establish a league in Europe featuring 16 teams. This presents a significant challenge in trying to merge European basketball competitions with the financial and commercial strength of the American league.
