Israel's Intelligence Shifts After 3 Years
After the October 7, 2023 attack, Israel implemented extensive changes to the operations of its intelligence agencies. These included reordering priorities, improving the collection and analysis of information, increasing coordination among agencies, and focusing on enhancing warning capabilities and preparedness for sudden threats. The adjustments aimed to correct the deficiencies revealed by investigations, particularly concerning the assessment of Hamas’s capabilities and plans, as well as improving human intelligence collection and open-source intelligence tools. Additionally, there was an emphasis on strengthening a culture of critical thinking and interaction among ranks. While the final outcomes are still unclear, it is believed that these changes are intended to improve Israel’s ability to detect and prevent future threats more effectively.
