Fire on tanker after Hormuz strike
A vessel was targeted in the Strait of Hormuz this morning in an attack that damaged its engine room with an unidentified projectile, causing a fire that has not yet been confirmed to result in any injuries or environmental damages. This attack comes after maritime authorities stopped another tanker passing through the strait, following threats from the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, which demanded it turn back or face being targeted. The Strait of Hormuz is one of the most crucial routes for global oil exports and has been witnessing increasing tensions between Iran and the United States, which has imposed a blockade on Iranian ports amid a rise in attacks on ships in the region.
