British schools face daily sexual offense scandal
The Guardian newspaper revealed that nearly five sexual crimes against children aged 12 or younger are recorded daily within schools in England and Wales from 2021 to 2025, with approximately 2,000 cases of rape or attempted rape reported. The vast majority of perpetrators are likely to be peers of the victims, teenagers under 18, predominantly females, with two-thirds of the victims being girls. The UK’s Children's Commissioner stated that peer-to-peer abuse is widespread and sometimes overlooked, with an increase in reports of indecent images being shared or distributed using AI technologies, despite attempts by schools to impose restrictions on phones and social media. Activists and lawyers emphasized that the issue is extensive and requires serious measures to ensure children’s safety within schools.
