German Official's Mobile Number Leaked
Reports have revealed that the mobile phone number and email addresses of the German Federal Intelligence Service's Deputy Head, Dag Bayar, have been accessible online for years. This was the result of a data leak from an American auction platform that suffered a cyberattack in 2020, leading to the theft of data belonging to approximately 3.4 million clients. Despite being aware of this, Bayar did not take preventive measures and continued to use his phone number sparingly, acknowledging that it was a mistake and that a correction was made. It is worth noting that such breaches are not limited to Bayar; personal data of other European intelligence figures have also been stolen. According to reports, Russia is considered a potential source of espionage techniques. The reports warn of increasing exploitation of digital identity data for espionage activities.
