Healthcare Challenges for Houthi Escapees
The article addresses the suffering of thousands of displaced Yemenis, particularly in the governorates of Aden and Lahj, due to the escalating fighting on Yemen's western coast, which has led to the displacement of nearly 200,000 people by the end of September. The internally displaced face significant challenges in accessing healthcare due to the distance of health facilities and difficulties in reaching them, especially amid rising transportation costs and medication prices. Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) provides mobile health services that include examinations and treatment for conditions such as malnutrition and infectious diseases, reaching the locations where displaced persons reside because of their difficult circumstances. The organization warns of increasing pressure on Yemen's collapsing healthcare system and is prepared to expand its response if the needs continue to grow.
