Moscow expels Hungarian diplomats
In response to Budapest's expulsion of 10 Russian diplomats, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced the reciprocal expulsion of Hungarian diplomats from Moscow, including staff from the Hungarian embassy and consulates in Russia, who are required to leave within two weeks. These measures come after Hungary expelled 10 members of the Russian mission in September last year on charges of engaging in "unacceptable activities," a rare move since 2018. Russia has not disclosed the nature of the allegations against the Hungarian diplomats, and this escalation marks a significant deterioration in relations between the two countries.
