Faydan on Mecca Alliance's Role in Saudi-Houthi Conflict
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan confirmed that there are initiatives to de-escalate tensions between Saudi Arabia and the Houthi movement, especially after the group's takeover of the Bab al-Mandab Strait. He mentioned that US-Iranian talks have reached a dead end and that Yemen has become a major source of concern. He explained that Turkey is rapidly advancing in strengthening the Mecca Alliance, which aims for regional solutions, and that if support is requested, Turkey is ready to provide military assistance to defend the kingdom against Houthi threats, reaffirming its solidarity and dynamic stance on the issue. Fidan also reiterated that the alliance aims to change the regional status quo, emphasizing that Israel poses a threat to the world. He called for an Egyptian-Saudi alliance to confront crises, amid increasing risks and instability in Yemen and the Strait.
