Over 1,000 sheep and camels at Iraqi wedding
A massive wedding feast was held in Dhi Qar Province, southern Iraq, during the celebration of the son of Sheikh Haider Aaber Fahad Al-Sharshab, the leader of the Bedor tribe. Large numbers of sheep and camels were prepared to feed the guests. The number of sacrificial animals ranged from 800 to 1,400 sheep and 100 to 270 camels, along with some gazelles, making this event one of the largest wedding celebrations in Iraq in terms of size. Photos of the feast sparked widespread interaction on social media platforms. Some viewed it as a display of tribal generosity and traditional hospitality, while others saw it as extravagance and wastefulness, reflecting the region’s customs of celebrating social occasions.
