Denmark's reaction to Trump's Greenland deal
Reports have confirmed that the United States will sign an agreement with Greenland and Denmark to enhance security in the Arctic region during next week’s United Nations meetings. This agreement comes after former President Trump announced the U.S. desire for permanent control over security and all needs in Greenland, aiming to counter Russian and Chinese influence expansion in the area. The treaty grants the United States permanent rights to access and operate over the island and includes guarantees that adversaries will not establish military bases there, while NATO continues to play a role in strengthening regional security. The agreement emphasizes respecting Greenland’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, involves the island in international cooperation, and represents an important step to bolster American military presence in this strategic area, helping to balance Russian and Chinese expansion in the Arctic.
