Cholera risks among Houthi refugees
The article discusses the worsening humanitarian situation in Yemen as a result of escalating violence. Over 125,000 people have been displaced in recent days due to ongoing fighting, with most lacking access to clean water and sanitation services, which increases the risk of waterborne diseases like cholera. The Islamic Relief organization clarified that the conditions for the displaced are characterized by overcrowding, malnutrition, and a lack of basic services, amid the deterioration of the healthcare system, where many health facilities are operating at limited capacity, making it difficult to control disease outbreaks. Despite efforts by international organizations, funding remains insufficient, with only 20% of the required amount secured, as the country faces escalating health and humanitarian crises.
