Revolutionary Guard warns ships in Hormuz
A tanker exposed to an attack with an unidentified projectile in the Strait of Hormuz has capsized, resulting in a fire that was extinguished, with the crew’s safety confirmed. Iran announced that it targeted a Togolese-flagged vessel called "Trend," accusing it of attempting to illegally pass through the strait, with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard claiming responsibility for the incident. These events coincided with other incidents, including another vessel being hit by an unidentified projectile a few hours earlier, reflecting escalating security tensions in this strategic waterway, which is one of the world’s most important oil routes. Shipping traffic through the strait has declined to its lowest levels in weeks, with increasing risks to navigation amid rising tensions between Iran and the United States. Major countries like South Korea are hinting at avoiding direct involvement, while global concerns grow over the continued escalation and its potential impact on energy markets.
