Harves seeks Al-Fayed estate compensation
Harrods' British article raises the issue of legal claims concerning compensation for women accused of sexual assault by the late Mohamed Fayed. The store is seeking to recover the full amounts it pays out as damages from Fayed's estate, which could amount to as much as £150 million for 275 women. This includes legal steps to strengthen its position by requesting legal professionals to appoint independent executors to manage the estate—an approach that has faced objections from the victims and their attorneys, as it is seen to potentially reduce the assets available to compensate other women seeking direct redress. Although £57 million has been allocated for compensation in 2025, Harrods has actually paid only £4.1 million so far, with ongoing settlements with 113 women. It is noted that Mohamed Fayed’s estate was valued at approximately £1.69 billion in 2023.
