Trump enacts sanctions on Russia's energy and shadow fleet
President Donald Trump signed into law a comprehensive sanctions package against Russia, targeting Russian officials and the key pillars of the country's economy, with the aim of pressuring Moscow to cease its support for the war in Ukraine. The law includes tariffs of up to 100% on the largest Russian oil and gas imports and targets banks and the shadow fleet involved in transporting Russian energy. This measure comes after intense approval from Congress. Additionally, the law seeks to reduce Russian oil and gas imports and to strengthen sanctions on Russian officials and transporters, with the goal of depriving President Vladimir Putin of the resources necessary to continue the war.
