Saudi Arabia Hosts Defensive Maritime Meeting
The Fifth Planning Meeting of the Multinational Maritime Defense Alliance was held in Jeddah, with the participation of 154 naval commanders, as well as ambassadors and representatives from the European Union from 41 countries. The meeting discussed the alliance's progress from the establishment phase to active operations, focusing on enhancing operational readiness, standardizing command, and executing maritime operational missions within the area of responsibility. The alliance aims to protect freedom of navigation and sea lanes in accordance with international law, address shared threats, and increase coordination among participating countries—especially amid tensions with the Houthi group in the Red Sea.
