China and Africa strengthen defense ties
The article addresses the ongoing escalation of China's military and political influence in Africa. Beijing organized the Fourth China-Africa Peace and Security Forum, which brought together military officials from 41 African countries and defense leaders, aiming to strengthen defense and security cooperation between the two sides. This cooperation includes officer training, support for armed forces' capabilities, and the enhancement of maritime security, all intended to promote stability on the continent and reduce reliance on other foreign powers. The article highlights that China relies on the principle of mutual benefit and enjoys broad support from African governments, in contrast to the waning American interest and the internal and security challenges facing Africa. With increasing Chinese involvement in military and security spheres, China seeks to bolster its influence across the region.
