Palestinian State Advances
The article discusses the situation of the Palestinians following some countries' recognition of the State of Palestine in 2024. It highlights that hope for achieving an independent state has waned due to escalating Israeli violence, expansion of settlements, and the undermining of the Palestinian Authority. Despite over 157 countries recognizing the State of Palestine through the United Nations, Israel continues to refuse the establishment of a Palestinian state, actively promotes settlement expansion, and imposes restrictions on Palestinians. Meanwhile, attacks have intensified, and the economic and political situation in the occupied territories has deteriorated. A two-state solution remains distant in reality, as ongoing challenges hinder its realization despite international recognitions and the international community’s reaffirmation of the legality of settlements.
