Spain moves migrants from Ceuta beaches
Spanish authorities have relocated hundreds of migrants from the beaches of Ceuta to a new camp in the port area, following a record surge that overwhelmed the small city’s capacity to accommodate them. In July, more than 70,000 migrants arrived from Morocco, and their chaotic influx caused dozens of deaths and heightened tensions both inside and outside the city, with protests and clashes between migrants and local residents. The evacuation operation, carried out despite local authorities' opposition, resulted in the new camp reaching its capacity of 1,700 people, with the total capacity increasing to six thousand. The crisis has fueled anger among residents and intensified political tensions in Spain, with accusations of failure to control the situation and criticism directed at the government's policies in managing the migrant influx.
