Raban murder worsens Egyptian sailors' crisis
The death of Egyptian captain Saeed Abdulaziz Salama has been reported, following an attack on a Russian cargo ship near a Russian port by Ukrainian shelling. This event occurs amid escalating crises faced by Egyptian sailors in maritime areas marked by security tensions, particularly off the Somali coast, where efforts to secure the release of eight Egyptian sailors still continue. It is noted that the ship "Nouran" was carrying 13 sailors, including nine Egyptians, and was attacked by six Ukrainian drones. The body of the captain is expected to be returned to Egypt after Russian procedures. Sources confirm that the security background of these operations complicates the sailors' situation, amid ongoing negotiations with pirates, with Egyptian calls for caution before sailing into conflict zones.
