Iraq opens skies to civilian flights
Iraq has announced the reopening of areas previously designated for military operations against ISIS to civilian aviation after a decade of restriction. This decision aims to enhance air traffic movement, reduce air shipping costs, and increase the country's revenues. The airspaces once under military control have been handed over to airport authorities and relevant companies, allowing for the creation of new flight routes and improving efficiency and safety in airspace management. This change is expected to shorten flight durations and lower operational costs for airlines, although European restrictions still pose a challenge to the full utilization of Iraqi airspace.
