According to the United Nations Interim Force there, 26 people were killed and 82 others injured in ethnic violence in the disputed Abyei area between Sudan and South Sudan. These clashes occurred in the Amiet market after two men from the Dinka Ngok and Misseriya tribes were killed within the same month, heightening tensions between the two groups. The UN forces are working to increase their deployment and are urging leaders to engage in dialogue and reach a peaceful settlement, with a focus on preventing further casualties.
