The actions of Real Madrid players, led by Kylian Mbappé, during a match against Elche sparked widespread controversy after they were seen partially covering training shirts bearing the phrase "We are all from Savam" in a way that concealed part of the message. Critics viewed this as a symbolic insult to the support directed towards the city and its residents. Mbappé stated that his actions were an expression of full solidarity with the residents of Savam and the victims who lost their lives during the summer migration crisis. He emphasized, however, that his stance was not against the city itself but reflected general support for the affected migrants. This incident prompted the Radical Ultras group to demand a public apology, while the league's president and sports critics criticized the appropriateness of the gesture. The issue is tied to a humanitarian crisis, during which tens of thousands of migrants from Morocco attempted to reach Savam, leading to tragedies, loss of life, social tensions, and debates about the boundaries of solidarity among athletes.
