FBI data breach leads to Jordan arrest of Shiny Hunters member
The Jordanian authorities have successfully arrested a member of the "Shiny Hunters" group, a team of young cyber hackers responsible for stealing FBI employee data and conducting widespread hacking attacks. The suspect, "Saif al-Din K.," known as "Ree," cooperated with the FBI and provided them access to his devices and digital communications to help identify the rest of the group members. The "Shiny Hunters" was founded in 2019 and conducts ransomware and data breach attacks targeting global companies and institutions. Their operations include stealing sensitive information and are accused of exposing the data of important figures, including FBI employees, putting their personal, psychological, and medical safety at risk. All group members are young, born between 2001 and 2004, operating from different countries, and face prison sentences in several jurisdictions.
