The announcement of Hossam El-Zanaty’s appointment as Zamalek’s sporting director has been delayed amid the fallout from the general assembly and debate over the future of the club’s football company—including the arrival of an investor and the size of their stake. El-Zanaty, 33, who is deputy sporting director at Denmark’s FC Nordsjælland, requires an independent football company to be established before taking up the role. This means the agreement depends on settling the company’s structure, his authority, and its relationship with the club’s management.
