Portuguese coach Paulo Fonseca has left French club Lyon to join Sporting CP, in a deal worth $5.6 million in compensation, after accepting an offer from the club he supported as a child. Fonseca, 53, took charge of Lyon in January 2025. The team is third in the league with 17 points after nine rounds. His compatriot Jorge Maciel will lead Lyon in its next two matches while the club searches for a new coach.
