Asian Cup to start biennially from 2032
The Asian Football Confederation's General Assembly has approved significant amendments to its statutes to ensure that its international competition schedule aligns with upcoming changes proposed by the International Federation. The hosting of the Asian Cup will be moved from odd-numbered to even-numbered years starting in 2032, with election dates also adjusted to reflect these changes, so that elected officials take office from January 1, 2028. These modifications aim to enhance transparency, stability, and unity in Asian football management, with full support for FIFA President Gianni Infantino, and reaffirming that current members will remain in their positions until the end of 2027.
