October saw 28 attacks on ships in the Strait
October set a record for the number of attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz, with data confirming at least 28 attacks, reflecting an escalation in targeting commercial vessels. Statistics indicate that approximately 3.5% of the fleet of supertankers has been attacked, with more than 30 tankers sustaining damage since the start of the war between Iran, the United States, and Israel in February. Most of the attacks in the Strait of Hormuz occurred during September and October, marking the most intense period of maritime assault activities since the escalation began in March. The objective appears to be slowing down shipping traffic and exerting pressure on global energy markets prior to the U.S. elections in November.
