Emirati Champions Unite at Jiu-Jitsu Academy
The article focuses on the efforts of three Emirati women—Asma Al-Hosani, Balqis Al-Hashimi, and Alnoud Al-Harbi—in the sport of jiu-jitsu, as they strive to establish a women’s sports academy aimed at training future generations and enhancing the status of sports in the UAE. Al-Hosani and Al-Hashimi, both of whom hold gold medals from the Asian Games, plan to combine their athletic careers with coaching: Asma will train adults, Alnoud will coach younger age groups, and Balqis will oversee the management. Their goal is to pass on their personal experience to the new generation, with a strong focus on empowering girls and boosting self-confidence through jiu-jitsu—a sport that has become an integral part of their lives, supported widely by the community and Emirati leadership. Although the project is still in the dream phase, they are eager to announce it soon, hoping to create a lasting positive impact on women’s jiu-jitsu in the UAE.
