FIFA sanctions against Al-Ahly
The Player Status Chamber at FIFA has announced that Al-Ahly SC is facing a transfer ban due to a financial dispute with former assistant coach Harald Gumberli. The chamber ordered the club to pay €357,500, along with an annual interest rate of 5%, for salaries owed from May 2025 to March 2026, due to the continuation of Gumberli’s contract despite his suspension from the position in April 2025. Although the ruling has been issued, the penalty has not yet been enforced, as Al-Ahly has appealed the decision, and the enforcement of the penalty is currently suspended pending a ruling by the Court of Arbitration.
