Post-Ronaldo and Jesus incident, 1.5M leave warns economists
The Portuguese national team’s Instagram account lost more than 1.5 million followers within 24 hours following Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure from the team camp, according to "Record" newspaper. Economic experts expect this decline to have negative implications for the Portuguese Football Federation’s commercial contracts, despite assurances that current contracts will not be affected at present due to Portugal hosting the 2030 World Cup, as well as the support from Madeira’s Prime Minister for Ronaldo. This came after statements from coach Jorge Jesus regarding his decision to exclude Ronaldo from upcoming matches and the suspension of support from local officials for the process.
