UK committee urges audit of Manchester City
A British parliamentary group leader has called on Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC) to intervene and investigate the Manchester City case. This comes after the club was found guilty by an independent committee of breaching Financial Fair Play rules in the English Premier League between 2009 and 2018. The allegations include inflating revenue through fictitious sponsorship agreements and concealing genuine financial obligations, with the club planning to appeal the conviction. The investigation relies on examining relevant non-disclosed documents related to the financial misconduct, emphasizing the need for HMRC's involvement due to the case's significance for the public interest.
