Barcelona braces for Madrid's UEFA move
The article focused on FC Barcelona's response to Real Madrid's escalation regarding the "Niegnera" case, which is being investigated by UEFA. The case involves payments believed to have been made by Barcelona to former refereeing chief, José María Enríquez Niegnera. Barcelona affirmed that no new disciplinary procedures have been opened and that the investigation has been ongoing since 2023. UEFA received documents from Real Madrid, but these do not imply any legal assessment or decision in the matter. The club also emphasized its full commitment to cooperating with the investigations and clarified that its competitive status remains unaffected, as it continues to participate in European competitions normally. UEFA reiterated that they are handling the documents sent by Real Madrid as part of their ongoing review process, with no additional actions taken so far, stressing that the outcomes of the investigations are related to the current Spanish criminal case.
