Neygreira case fuels Madrid-Barcelona tension
The UEFA European Football Association (UEFA) announced that it has received a comprehensive file from Real Madrid's management containing investigations into Barcelona, related to financial payments totaling approximately 7.5 million euros between 2001 and 2018. These payments were made by Barcelona to companies connected to a former vice-president of the Spanish Football Federation, as part of inquiries into the legality of these payments and their potential impact on the integrity of competitions. UEFA confirmed that this review does not currently mean an official disciplinary process has been opened. Meanwhile, Barcelona denies any violations, asserting that the payments were for legitimate services, and judicial investigations indicate there is no evidence suggesting these payments influenced match outcomes.
