NYT: Trump overstates U.S. influence in Greenland
The New York Times reported that U.S. President Donald Trump overestimated the extent of American control over Greenland's security during his announcement of a deal with Denmark. Reliable sources confirmed that Trump's statements about permanent control over Greenland do not reflect any new powers that would be granted to Washington, and the announced agreement does not amount to the full takeover that Trump was demanding. The United States has reached a deal to expand its security presence in the region, but the details have not yet been disclosed. The agreement is considered less ambitious than Trump's statements, which has sparked unrest within NATO and concern in Denmark.
