Israeli officer killed, five soldiers hurt in Lebanon
Two incidents in southern Lebanon resulted in the death of an Israeli officer and injuries to five soldiers, including three who were injured in a military vehicle rollover of the Hummer type. Additionally, two other soldiers were lightly wounded in a separate incident caused by improper handling of ammunition. Despite a June agreement between Lebanon and Israel under American mediation that stipulates a gradual Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory, Israel continues to conduct attacks and occupy Lebanese areas, continuing the military escalation between the two sides since March.
