UAE: Flydubai co-pilot attacked captain with axe
A flydubai flight was targeted in an attempted "terrorist attack" by the co-pilot, who used a crash axe to try to seize control of the plane during a flight to Israel. Passengers and crew subdued him, allowing an emergency landing, and both pilots were hospitalized. The co-pilot had been barred from flying by Oman over extremism concerns and was later hired by flydubai, raising questions about his vetting. Investigators from multiple countries are examining the motives behind the attack.
