Bangkok's streets flood amid rising waters
Bangkok experienced severe flooding due to unprecedented rainfall, resulting in approximately 40 deaths, widespread displacement, and flooding across all city districts. The heavy rains overwhelmed the city's drainage system, which is hindered by urban development, leading to streets turning into stagnant lakes and causing major disruptions to transportation and activities. Authorities have declared a disaster, and forecasts indicate further heavy rain, highlighting concerns over worsening climate-related extreme weather events in Southeast Asia.
