WHO: Cause of Russian worker's plague death unclear
The World Health Organization reported that the main cause of death of a laboratory employee in Siberia is unknown, amid concerns that it may be related to pneumonic plague, although there is no current evidence to confirm this. The organization clarified that tests showed no sign of plague infection, and that the woman died from severe pneumonia, a common viral respiratory infection. Russian authorities continue to keep details of the incident confidential, with unresolved questions regarding the potential link between the death and possible plague.
