El-Ghaity on the fight over online influence
The episode addressed the activity of the Muslim Brotherhood in Europe, particularly in Germany, where centers and networks linked to the group have been monitored. Among these is the "Islamic Assembly" in Munich, which was estimated to have around 1,450 members or affiliates up to 2020. The report also discussed the group's efforts to expand influence through electronic platforms, focusing on the platform "Matshowesh," which had six of its members arrested in Egypt. This platform is operated from outside the country, and there are old claims and discussions regarding Abdel Rahman Mansour, who denied belonging to the group in 2012. The episode emphasizes the importance of verifying sources of information and distinguishing between legitimate opposition and misinformation. It also underlines that the battle for digital awareness requires careful scrutiny and differentiation between accurate news and false information to ensure a correct understanding of the reality.
