Cambridge and Lexington lead US school rankings
Cambridge’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. School and Lexington’s Jonas Clarke Middle School topped Massachusetts rankings for public elementary and middle schools, respectively, according to US News & World Report’s 2026-27 evaluations. The rankings, based on standardized test scores and socioeconomic factors, highlight top schools amid ongoing challenges with recovering pre-pandemic exam performance, particularly in English language arts. Despite high rankings, some schools still show scores below pre-pandemic levels, reflecting ongoing academic recovery efforts.
