Wild turkeys appear at the doorstep
Wild turkeys have become widespread in Massachusetts since their reintroduction in the 1970s, with populations now around 37,000. While some residents admire their presence, others face problems with aggressive turkeys attacking people and damaging property, particularly in neighborhoods like Quincy. Officials advise against feeding or approaching the birds and recommend actions such as making noise or using water to deter them, though relocation is rarely permitted due to their protected status.
