Navi Pillay's Nobel Win Sends Global Message
Navi Pillay, a South African judge and former UN human rights chief, was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for her lifelong work defending international human rights and justice. The committee highlighted her efforts in establishing legal precedents on crimes against humanity and genocide, amid ongoing attacks on international legal institutions. Her recognition emphasizes the importance of the rule of law for global peace, even as some countries, including the US, have imposed sanctions on the ICC and targeted its prosecutors.
