Ex-Massachusetts officer faces murder trial
A former Massachusetts police officer is on trial for allegedly murdering his pregnant mistress and staging her death as a suicide. The trial follows his arrest and charges related to the death of Sandra Birchmore, whom he is accused of grooming and exploiting over several years. Prosecutors allege he killed her after learning of her pregnancy and believed he was the father, despite DNA evidence to the contrary.
