Netanyahu and rivals focus on October 7 in Israel election
The upcoming Israeli elections are heavily influenced by the aftermath of the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack, which resulted in significant casualties and international scrutiny. Netanyahu’s leadership is being challenged amid calls for accountability, while opponents focus on forming a government of reconstruction and inquiry. The elections are seen as a referendum on Netanyahu’s handling of the attack and national security, with little discussion of the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza or the broader Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
